Hole in the Sand
00034

Nicolletia occidentalis, commonly called Hole in the Sand, is a perennial herb. Native to California, Nicolletia is most commonly found from the Mojave Desert down to Baja California. After a sufficient wet season, it reappears from a deep taproot. Most animals will not eat it. As a member of the Nicotine family, this plant has an odor that most animals find unappealing.
This plant requires very well drained gritty alkaline soil, and full sun.
