Kallstroemia grandiflora, the Arizona Poppy is also called the Arizona Caltrop, Mal de Ojos, Orange Caltrop, or Summer Poppy. It is a summer annual herb of the Southwest deserts. It blooms profusely after summer monsoon rains. It is found from sea level to 6,000 feet.
The deep taproot will keep it going as long as it is watered fairly regularly, but it requires excellent drainage.
